Dental Assisting Certificate
Overview
The Dental Assisting Certificate ensures students are both eligible to sit for the Dental Assisting National Board examination and earn the permits required by the state of Oklahoma and the Oklahoma Board of Dentistry to perform expanded dental assisting duties. Certificate earners gain the entry-level skills needed for workforce readiness, while also enhancing their qualifications for potential promotions or salary incentives.
Program Goals and Outcomes
- Equip students with the foundational knowledge and technical skills required for dental assisting roles.
- Prepare students to meet licensure and certification requirements in Oklahoma.
- Enhance career readiness for roles in dental practices or healthcare settings.
Degree Plan
Students must complete 46 credit hours with a grade of "C" or better in all required courses:
- 1st Semester: Dental Assisting, Clinical Procedures I, Dental Sciences I, Dental Materials, Dental Radiography
- 2nd Semester: Clinical Procedures II, Dental Sciences II, Practice Management, Correlation Seminar, Dental Assisting Practicum I
- 3rd Semester: Dental Assisting Practicum II
